Fun little radio set
I grabbed this because it came up in the 'this day in history' box on the front page of the LMA, and it had streaming mp3's, so it was a slam dunk. Sound quality is great. It is a soundboard radio broadcast, and it sounds like it too. Great sound, great recording. Show quality is great too. A short little set with only a few songs, but the band sounds like it is having a good time. Andrew Bird makes some great toe-taping violin music that is really nice fast paced and lively. Sort of old-timey, but really fun to listen to. Check out the streaming version, it rocks! Compared to the 'more recent' 2004/2005 radio performances, this eary 1999 performance has more of a stripped down / stright ahead feel. No looping, just raw violin and vocals and steel brushed drums. more of an 'ole-timey' sound too and sounds more old school bluegrass then the 'folky' sound in the 2005 performances. Diffrent but definately just as good and amazing, and with a total running time of just 13 minutes and since it can be streamed, why not give it a listen? This artist is going places, give him a listen.
